Now I know I'm all about promoting a healthy lifestyle and enjoying training, finding your balance and being the best version of you- but NO superfood salad or 10 mile run is going to make you feel great if you can't look at yourself and be genuinely happy and content with RIGHT NOW- not thinking about what you were like or what you should be, but right now. Saying it's just because I feel confident with it on but honestly I'm struggling with myself at the moment and makeup hides a multitude of sins. Saying goodbye to the girl who's cried all night and hello to the girl who walks around in unicorn colours.
Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian may have made flawless selfies a social media staple but it seems women are rebelling.
In a new social media trend that's being dubbed 'Gen Natural' - generation natural - ladies are shunning heavily contoured makeup and perfect hair for makeup-free selfies on social media. To be honest, I didn't have anyone to teach me how to do my own makeup growing up so I turned to You Tube, but I still struggle with it so I choose to go without most days. Sometimes, I'll scroll through my social media and see these fit girls who have hair extensions in, lashes done, and their makeup flawless-photo after photo. Today, I challenge you to be comfortable in your own skin. And if you wanna wear it everyday then more power to you, if it makes you feel good!
So Maybe take like 2 seconds today to look at yourself without the make up and be happy, excited & a little bit in love with yourself. I shouldn't have to hide away apart of myself but I do because I'm scared of letting all my feelings show. In all honesty, I just came back from getting my eyebrows and upper lip threaded and it hurt so fucking much it made me question if I am REALLY doing it for myself or the patriarchy. When you decide to love yourself and realise you are not just a body or a face but worth a lot more - - - - - - - #bodypositivity A post shared by Rozanna Purcell (@rozannapurcell) on I'm a really positive person trying to spread positivity and lift others up. Never apologize for being real A post shared by Morena l Swiss Blogger (@m0reniita) on Both beautiful. Have you ever felt like you could explode from sadness? So I distract myself with bright colours and glitter and hope that one day soon I'll be able to breathe. Use makeup for fun, for expressing yourself, for art! You will see me full breakout in my stories most days, in the gym, going to meetings, living my life... That's all body positivity is asking you to do, it's asking you to question what you've come to expect as the norm. But I bet if I'd only posted the right hand image, you would've just taken it as the truth when it's a complete lie.) Not only is your beauty not dictated by the products applied to your face, your beauty is also not confined to your physical appearance.
I don't feel ashamed for my face when it changes after having cried. Nobody has to feel ashamed and nobody has to apologize for showing emotions. The difference is that we aren't reliant on wearing it. Body positivity means WE own the rulebook when it comes to our faces and our bodies. It's saying we should have the choice to wear makeup or not which means the workplace and clubs can not dictate makeup on their dress code. ❤ Never forget that in a world of such cruelty, hopelessness and fear, KINDNESS AND LOVE is what really matters. I have a lot of stress, I go to bed quite often without washing myself due to depression and I don't have the time or money to really take care of my skin so it just gets left and for the first time in forever; I'm okay with it. And don't get it twisted - I'm not shaming people who wears make-up make-up can be an amazing creative outlet, self care ritual and form of artistry.
We don't NEED it to feel beautiful because we know we are inherently beautiful with or without it. We don't use it to cover our spots, acne or acne scars. ❤ #loveyourself #loveyourbody #selflove #selfcare #effyourbeautystandards #bopo #bodypositive #bodypositivity #kindness #kindnesswins #love #lovewins #behappy #spreadlove #lovemakestheworldgoround A post shared by Kate ☀️ (@kateshappinessjourney) on Make up free, crazy haired, no filter, zero editing. You are perfect just as you are, you don't need retouching, you don't need a full face of make up to be photographed, you don't need perfectly tamed hair to go out in public. I don't particularly like my spotty, bumpy skin but I refuse to hate it anymore... But I also think we should be addressing how today's make-up culture is teaching so many people that they're not good enough unless they're perfectly contoured, highlighted, and on fleek (and making a whole lot of money doing it).Do not pine over an unrealistic version of yourself, or an unrealistic version of other people you see every day on Instagram and billboards. We all want to keep up in this MENTAL age of striving for the elusive 'perfection', we all want to be loved, we all want to be appreciated and it's nice to be told you're 'beautiful', that you have a 'great body' or 'perfect hair'.You ARE good enough, you are more than good enough! You can read more on the blog if you wanna ✨ A post shared by Megan Jayne Crabbe (@bodyposipanda) on HAPPY NO FILTER FRIDAY my darling squishies!
